My trip to Moira was quiet an unexpected adventure (yes, I would like to consider it a mini Goan adventure). My friend Jaylee offered me a ride from Mapusa till Panjim, and it was an offer my tired legs and aching back could not refuse. But before that she had to stop by at her relative’s place at Moira, so I tagged along. As we entered the beautiful village of Moira, I fell in love with the Portuguese houses which lined the road and the quaint atmosphere. Jaylee decided to show me the Moira church, which I readily agreed to, a decision my tired legs and aching back does not regret.
The church is an architectural marvel. It is not as grand as the ones you would find in Old Goa, but it still manages to capture your attention. Apart from the structure itself, the scene it is set on is even more beautiful. Right opposite the church runs a river and beautiful sheet of green open land extends as far as the eye can see. It’s definitely a treat to the eye, and something different and equally worth a visit, apart from the usual tourist attractions in the state.
